The noted Cape Breton style fiddlers playing music with their children, along with an array of other musicians, dancers and singers.

Both Natalie MacMaster and her husband Donnell Leahy (married since 2002), come from musical families.

Natalie MacMaster grew up on Cape Breton Island in the far northeast corner of Canada and began to study its distinctive style of fiddle playing at the age of nine. She released her first recording at sixteen, and for more than thirty years she has delighted audiences with her talents.

Donnell Leahy started playing fiddle at the age of three. His father was a fiddler and his mother a Cape Breton style step dancer, and Leahy soon forged his own reputation as the front man for the band Leahy.

Macmaster and Donnell have six children, at least some of whom will join their parents in performing. As well, there will be a passel of additional singers, dancers and musicians to round things out.

The concert will be supplemented as well by some new video footage heralding the unique Cape Breton culture from which this wonderful musical tradition arises.
