Starring Julia Roberts, Clive Owen
It is a pleasure to see Julia back on the silver screen after some absence, with the adjustment of handsome maturity advancing on glittering allure. There is something formulaic about the script, but it still has its own kind of corporate whodunit entertainment value. The overly intended chemistry between the two stars gets in the way of the ironic and humorous plot – which is kind of Michael Clayton lite – but, in the end, it all has some degree of charm. Frankly, I could have waited for the video, but I’m not sure I would have wanted to wait to see Julia on screen again. If you really want a good dose of Julia, however, you will have to pull Pretty Lady, Notting Hill, and Erin Brockovich off the shelf.
