Most of it has an amusing and fanciful quality, but, because of its hard and sharp components, it is somewhat dark and punky as well.  <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15103\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15103\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_OpenStudios_20130505_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_OpenStudios_20130505_.jpg\" alt=\"Skunk\" width=\"300\" height=\"416\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_OpenStudios_20130505_.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_OpenStudios_20130505_-216x300.jpg 216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15103\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Skunk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A pair of large robot figures constructed out of something like electrical panel boxes adorned the porch, while a doorway was framed in a cascade of gears, scissor pieces and other detritus.  <\/p>\n<p>All kinds of things &#8211; leaves from an old steamer basket, perhaps an old blender container, gears &#8211; helped to create a sweetly disposed droid, its smile framed by the container&#8217;s horizontal seam.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15104\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15104\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_P1050393.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_P1050393.jpg\" alt=\"Birdlike Bot by Skunk\" width=\"400\" height=\"327\" class=\"size-full wp-image-15104\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_P1050393.jpg 400w, https:\/\/bostonartsdiary.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Skunk_P1050393-300x245.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-15104\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Birdlike  Bot<br \/>by Skunk<br \/>Courtesy of the artist<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An elaborate congeries of valves, tubes, pipes and an old derailleur sat atop a couple of legs strutted over gear-feet to create a birdlike creature.<\/p>\n<p>The roughness of the materials gives a superficial toughness to the otherwise frequently cartoonlike pieces which, despite their protruding teeth and sometimes sharp edges, evoke a sense of gentle charm and bemused vulnerability.<\/p>\n<div class=\"PostHighlight\">More on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skunkadelia.com\/\">Skunkadelia<\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;
